I was recently named conservator for my mother in law. Virginia law requires me to open a bank account from which to pay her bills. The bank must be a Virginia bank that provides copies of all cancelled checks with each statement. Can TD Ameritrade accommodate these requirements? Her investment account is with TD Ameritrade.

Thank you joining us on TD Helps, Karyn. We'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
Although TD Bank and TD Ameritrade are under the same TD shield, we are different entities and unable to complete any TD Ameritrade transactions at TD Bank locations and vice versa. If you are looking to make any transactions or changes on your TD Ameritrade account you will not be able to complete those transactions at your local TD Bank Store.
We recommend contacting TD Ameritrade directly for more information. Check out http://bit.ly/1ygWAX4 for their contact information.
We hope that this helps out, Karyn.

Thank you for clarifying. Can you tell me if TD Bank can accommodate the requirement that we receive cancelled checks? I don't necessarily have to use TD Ameritrade. I'm having a hard time tracking down a bank that will provide cancelled checks.

Welcome back, Karyn. We'll be glad to go over how to obtain check copies.
If your mother's account is held with TD Bank, we will be able to provide you with copies of cancelled checks.
If the check(s) you're looking for have been paid within the past 60 days, you may view these via your Online Banking account. Please select "All Available History" from the drop down box located under "Account History" after you select the "Accounts" tab. Selecting this will allow you view and print any checks that have been paid recently from your account.
Additionally, if your account is enrolled for paperless statements, your cancelled check images are available to view on the last page of your statement, for any month in which your account was paperless. To view your statements online, after selecting the "Accounts" tab and the account you would like to view, please click on the green "Statements" tab to select the month and year of the statement.
If you do not wish to go paperless and would like to receive your checks images in addition to your monthly statement, you may request this by giving us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000. You may also visit a TD Store to complete this request in person. To find a location nearby please check out: http://bit.ly/TDStores. Please note, depending on the type of account you have, additional fees may apply, we invite you to view our Fee Schedule at http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
If you do not currently use Online Banking or your check images are not available, don't worry, as we have other ways to help you. You are always welcome to give one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000, and they can mail a copy to your home address. If you are nearby one of our TD Bank Stores, you can request a check copy to be printed while you wait.
If you are still looking to get cancelled checks from TD Ameritrade, we recommend reaching out to them directly. Feel free to check out http://bit.ly/1ygWAX4 for their contact information.
Thanks again for stopping by and have a great week, Karyn.

I'm still a little confused but I think I'm getting somewhere now. I need to open a new account. If TD Bank can provide me with the original cancelled checks, or a bank copy of the front of the cancelled checks with my monthly statements, then I will open the new account at TD Bank. I cannot use electronic copies. Sounds like I should go to TD Bank in person! Thanks for your help.
