I am moving in a week from New York to Louisiana. I closed my savings account with Td and transfered the savings to my checking. I do not know which bank I will be using in Louisiana as of yet. Can I transfer my money from my checking account to a new bank and close my TD account FROM Louisiana or do I need to do that in NY? I only ask because I prefer not to drive with a large amount of cash or even a bank check on me for 2/3 days.

Thank you for connecting with us on TD Helps, Lana.
Once you have opened a new account in Louisiana, you do have the option to transfer the funds from your TD account to your new account online via our External Transfers service. If you are already enrolled for Online Banking, please log in here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq to use this service. After logging onto your account, please choose the "Transfers" tab. Then click on "Transfer to Accounts Outside TD Bank." You will then be asked to accept the User Agreement and review the fee schedule.
After the enrollment is completed, you may continue to schedule a transfer by adding your new account at a different institution. Once you enter the required fields, the transfer service will then display whether or not you can make an immediate transfer. In some cases, a trial deposit is initiated at the receiving institution for verification purposes. You’re welcome to check out: http://go.td.com/1o7dO68 for additional details. Please know that fees may apply for this service. For more information on the fee schedule, please take a look here: http://go.td.com/1cTejgt.
Once the transfer is complete and your balance is at zero, You may then contact us by phone 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or sending us a secure message via your online banking to have your account closed.
We wish you the best of luck, Lana. Take care!
