Good morning, Lynn, and welcome to TD Helps.
This is a great question, and we'll be more than happy to help.
At this time, in order to open an individual Checking or Savings account, your child must be at least 18 years of age; however, a joint account may be opened with an adult at any number of our TD Store locations, during lobby hours. You're welcome to use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to find your nearest TD Store location, as well as their lobby hours.
Before your visit, you and your child are welcome to check out the accounts that are currently offered by TD Bank. It sounds as though your child may be interested in obtaining a Checking account, and if this is the case, you're welcome to check out the link here: https://go.td.com/2eQORxu. We also offer Savings accounts, which you can find here: https://go.td.com/2bSlkVn. If you'd like, we also offer a Selector Tool, which can make a personalized recommendation for your child, based on their needs. You can find this tool here: https://go.td.com/2sx4N2E.
It's important to note that, during your visit, your child and the adult that will be added to their account with them will need to provide a valid form of identification such as Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc., and their Social Security Number. As your child is a minor, acceptable forms of identification include School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security Card.
If you have any questions, you're welcome to reach out to your Store location, or if you'd prefer, you may also call and speak with a Banking Specialist. For your convenience, Banking Specialists are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached by simply calling 1-888-751-9000.
We sincerely hope this helps, Lynn! Please let us know if we can answer any additional questions for you, and have a great day.
