I live in Ireland but was in Maine for the summer so opened an account with TD Bank in Waterville so I could receive payment for work. However I am now back home and wish to close my account from Ireland and don't know how to.
I keep getting charged each month and my account is now in negative. I tried to transfer money but it was rejected for unknown reasons, I need to make this transfer to un freeze my account and close it. How do I do this?

We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble, Emma. We'd be glad to help.
Please know that in order to close an account, the balance must be $0.00. As you mentioned that you've attempted to resolve the balance but the transfer was unsuccessful, we recommend contacting us directly for assistance.
You are able to reach us from outside the U.S. by dialing 888-751-9000 or 215-569-0518 collect from a land line telephone. Once speaking with a Specialist, they will be glad to review your account to determine why the transfer was rejected.
If you are enrolled in Online Banking, you are also able to reach us via secure message. To send a secure message you must first logon to your TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq. On the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center."
We hope to hear from you soon, Emma. Have a good day.
