Hi there Lilia,
Thank you for sending us your message this evening and we hope you and your family are doing well!
First, we'd like to let you know that we are committed to your daughter's satisfaction as our Customer. If she has moved outside the United States, we do have some options for her to do much of her banking without the need to visit a TD Bank Store. Please note that we offer fully featured online and mobile banking services and live telephone support available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year.
If she still prefers to close her account rather than maintain it, we understand and are able to advise you.
If her account has remaining funds, an easy way to close the account is via mailed written request. She can request to close her account and any available money in it can be sent to her by check. She can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Her name ▪Her account number(s) ▪Her request to close the account(s) ▪Her current address ▪Her signature
For her security, she will want to have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:
TD Bank, N.A
P.O. Box 1377
Lewiston, Maine 04243-1377
It can also be mailed to her home Store and a listing of our Stores can be found here: http://bit.ly/TDStores. If she prefers, another option is to remove any remaining funds from her current location, such as via her TD Bank Visa Debit card, check, or transfer. Once the account balance is zero exactly, she can contact a Specialist to request that the account be closed.
If this option suits her better, we suggest using a local ATM to withdraw funds from the account. If her account is a checking with a Visa Debit card, she can also opt to visit a bank to request a cash advance of the funds. Please note that Daily Limits on Personal Debit Cards are $762.00 for ATM withdrawals, and $5,000.00 for Cash Advances.
Once the funds have been removed, she can contact a Specialist 24/7 from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518.
Or, once the balance is zero, she can also send a Representative her request to close the account via Online Banking. She can log in to her account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and once logged in, visit the Customer Service tab. The Send a Message link will be available there for her to make her request.
We hope this is helpful, Lilia. If you'd like to clarify any of this for her, you can always call us for general information 24/7 at 888-751-9000, or feel free to chat with us again here!
Thanks again for writing in to us and we hope you have a wonderful evening.
