We want to be able to open an account in Canada and link it with the account at the TD bank in Lakeland Florida. I'm not sure if I can do this on line or if I have to come to the branch and open the account. In reading through the types of accounts I believe we may qualify for the over 60 which has a minimum daily amount of 250 - any help you can provide would be appreciated. If we need to go to the bank that is fine as well. Thanks. Sandra Himelman

You've brought a great question to TD Helps! Thanks for stopping by and we'll be more than happy to discuss this with you.
First, we'd like to let you know that although TD Bank here in the U.S. and TD Canada Trust fall under the same TD shield, we are different entities.
Since you've reached us here at TD Bank in the U.S., we'll be glad to provide instructions for opening an account in the US. In order to open a joint account, both owners must be present at one of our Stores together to complete any necessary documentation, including your signature cards. We are happy to accommodate our non-resident Customers. One form of ID must be a valid non-U.S. Passport with photo or valid non-U.S. Passport and Visa with photo and the second form of valid ID he may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
That being said, you may begin an account here in the U.S. and have your spouse added as an owner at a later time. Take a look here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc to search for the convenient TD Bank Store locations near you, including lobby hours and their contact info.
We invite you to review our TD Bank U.S. Checking account options here: https://go.td.com/2aKRsaa, or use our Checking Selector at: https://go.td.com/2fhzGCi. And our Savings products are listed here: https://go.td.com/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector at https://go.td.com/1sxY9Rd.
If you do choose to begin the account individually at first, you may use the Open Account buttons at these links to begin your account application. Or, to open your account by phone, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives.
If you prefer to open an account with TD Canada Trust, you can take a look here: https://go.td.com/2fpghu8 for information on adding a joint owner to an account there. To contact TD Canada Trust with any questions either of you may have, feel free to post your own question here: https://go.td.com/1Ymzfmu, or see all the ways they can be reached here: https://go.td.com/1wIzMPo.
Hope this answers your question! Thanks again for choosing TD and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
