Thank you for reaching us on TD Helps, Frank. We'd be happy to share the account options available for your son!
There are some account types that offer the waiver of monthly maintenance fees. TD Bank offers many types of Savings Accounts that can fit your needs. We recommend taking a look at http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT for more detailed information on each particular Savings Account available at TD Bank. You may find it helpful to check out our customized Savings Selector tool, found here: http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd.
Once you've helped your son choose the best account type that fits his needs, there are many ways he can open an account.
To open a Savings account, he may apply Online by visiting www.tdbank.com or click here: http://bit.ly/1fN7u4i to take him directly to the account opening application. To open the account over the phone, he may call us directly 24/7 at 888-751-9000 and he will have up to 30 business days to make his initial deposit. Finally, he has the option of visiting us at a local TD Store to open an account. If he chooses this option, he'll need to make an initial deposit to the account he's selected. There would not be a minimum requirement to open the account; however, some accounts have requirements in order to have certain fees waived. We would encourage him to review the link above prior to visiting a Store. For hours and locations nearby, take a look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this helps, Frank and have a great day!
