Thanks for reaching out to us on TD Helps today, Anna.
We're very sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. Although you're unable to change this CD to another person's name, you do have the option of changing the CD to an estate CD or closing the CD and putting the funds into an estate account (deposit account) so you may distribute the funds as you wish. Being the executor of your sister's estate, you may access the account. To access the account, you must provide the following documentations to a TD Bank Store: Photo identification, Copy of the Death Certificate, an original Certificate of Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration with a raised seal dated within 60 days; and a Letter of Instructions signed by all the Executors or Administrators with signature guaranteed by another financial institution. The death certificate will provide date of death if the date-of-death balance for the account is requested. Please keep in mind; these documents do vary by State.
We recommend visiting the TD Bank Store closest to where your sister lived, or give us a call directly 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with a Banking Specialist for further information. For locations and hours, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores. Please feel free to reach out to us for assistance with anything given the circumstances.
Again, thanks for visiting us on TD Helps and have a nice day.
