I want to set up a US account with TD so I can link to my Canadian TD account. After trying to complete the application, I see that the residential address doesn't allow for the state I am i. I called the Help Center and they walked me through it but apparently when it came to asking me "security questions" the system locked the help rep out. he suggested I try again and identify myself as a US citizen residing in Canada. After completing the application again, I was told that the system could not verify my identity. I re-did the form again three times, double checked all the numbers and still no luck. We also tried with my wife's ID and same result. There has to be a way to apply on-line without physically going to a location. TD Bank either wants to do business in the U.S. or does not. Requiring me to "travel" to a location in person seems kind of silly (or quaint I guess).

We thank you for considering us for your U.S. account! We would love to welcome you to TD and we do apologize for the trouble you've had in trying to get this started with us.
From the information in your message, we understand that you are most likely a Canadian citizen spending some time the U.S. (Hawaii) right now. If this is the case, we do offer the option of applying for a new U.S. account with us both online and by phone. However, when doing so please keep in mind that we'll need to verify your identity using your Canadian credit history and kindly note that this would require recent credit activity in Canada. If you've been residing in the U.S. for some time, this could result in the application decline that you might have described regarding the security questions that were asked.
Our Cross Border Banking Team is best equipped to handle your cross-border questions and account application. We can recommend that you reach out to this Team directly at 877-700-2913 Option #1 for assistance. We are available 24/7 to help and we suggest discussing your previous application experiences with one of our agents prior to beginning again.
Also, depending on where you began your online application this could affect the outcome. If you'd like to try again online, you can click here: http://bit.ly/1ishIab to begin an application for an account with TD Bank in the U.S. Kindly select the "I'm a Canadian Resident" button prior to beginning your application online (rather than the U.S. option) to ensure you're using your Canadian profile information.
If for any reason your application is unable to be approved using either of these methods, at that point we would kindly ask you to step in to one of our Stores or Branches to open a U.S. account. We're happy to tell you that this can be completed either at TD Bank within the States or at any TD Canada Trust Branch so you would be able to choose whichever one works better for you depending on your location and travel plans. A listing of U.S. TD Stores can be found on this page: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We apologize again for any issues with this, Harry and we hope this will help.
Looking forward to hearing from you again and enjoy your time in Hawaii!
