We appreciate your visit, Kristen. We'd be happy to help!
If you have a check made payable to your son and as he is still a minor, you may be able to deposit the check into a TD personal account. To do this, you would first need to endorse the check as if it was written to you. Then, beneath your signature you would need to write, ‘Parent of Minor.’ The funds would then clear your account as if you made a check deposit for yourself.
We would also recommend reviewing this option with your local TD Bank Store, prior to making the deposit. Please visit us at a Store near you, and find one at: http://bit.ly/TDStores, during our lobby hours for Teller assistance.
To open an account at TD Bank for your son, TD Bank is pleased to offer our Young Saver account, which is designed specifically for minors. If your son or daughter is listed as the Primary account owner and they are under the age of 18, no minimum balance or monthly fee would apply. In addition, no initial deposit is required to start the account! If you do have funds you would like to deposit when you open the account, any amount can be used.
You can find more details for this account type at: http://bit.ly/1cDNIR3. The account is available in statement and passbook formats. With a statement savings, an ATM card for the account is also available if you prefer.
Please keep in mind that you will need to provide a valid form of identification to open the account, such as a State License, State ID or Passport. Acceptable forms of identification for minors include a School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security Card. Young Saver accounts can be opened at any TD Bank store near you. Please click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find your closest store.
If you need anything else, please feel free to call us at 888-751-9000 available 24/7.
We hope this helps. Have a great one.
