I have money due me that is currently in a tax deferred account. Can I open a savings IRA account with TD without any money? And then have the money transferred into it? Also, I have heard that some insurance companies might withhold 20% for a year, for tax reasons. If true, would this apply to me? Thanks

Welcome to TD Helps, Paul, and thanks for considering an account with TD. We first recommend taking a look at our savings account types here: https://go.td.com/2bSlkVn. Many of the options available by following the link are eligible for opening as an IRA. You can also review which type of IRA may best suit your needs here: https://go.td.com/1j4SCQq. To open this account type, you would need to visit a TD Store during lobby hours. You can review TD Stores in your neighborhood here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR. We recommend reaching your TD Store prior to your trip to determine what documents may be needed for account opening and if there is a minimum deposit required. You can also connect with our IRA Department at 800-231-8193, Option 4, available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm EST, and Saturdays, 9:00 am - 1:30 pm EST. We look forward to seeing you, Paul! Have a great day!
