Dear TD Bank, Americas Most Convenient Bank,
I like to close my TD CanadaTrust account (I used to stay in Canada, but now I am based in the US) and transfer the funds TD Bank in the US. I also like to avail of the $300 new checking customer online offer. How do I open an account in TD Bank US? I live in California. Your online form does not have CA as an option for state.

Thanks, but I need more help. I called 888-751-9000. TD bank's representatives told me different things. The first time I called, your representative told me I will be eligible for the $300 new checking customer offer - since I am indeed a new checking customer. I plan to deposit funds and set up direct deposit. He was pleasant and enthusiastic to help. We went through account opening over the phone while I provided my social security and driver's license number. But he eventually was unable to open a checking account for me. It was over the weekend, and he said it might be that TD's system was undergoing maintenance.
Based on your suggestion, I called TD again today through the same 888-751-9000 number. TD's representative today sounded lukewarm and readily told me that I am not eligible for the $300 new customer checking offer.
I am confused. Can you help?

Thanks for stopping by on TD Helps, Xingyi. We're happy to clear up some confusion.
Please note that as you are in California, this promotional offer may not apply. Keep in mind that TD offers promotions on a regular basis both online and at our Stores. We recommend keeping up with both for new promotional offers.
In order to qualify for the promotion you've mentioned, you must meet the following criteria:
-The primary owner must be a new to bank Customer
-The account was opened Online (Accounts opened in Store or by phone are not eligible).
-You have received direct deposit(s) totaling $2,500 or more within 60 days.
Once all qualification have been met, the account opened will receive a credit within 95 days.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out Banking Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000.
We hope that this helps, Xingyi. Feel free to reach out to us with any other questions.

I also live in California and there is no address option with the state "CA", therefore I am unable to continue the open account process. Please assist me on how do I apply to open an account with a CA address? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for joining the conversation, Dan!
We're glad you're interested in opening an account with us!
As TD Bank is currently located only along the east coast of the U.S., we may have some difficulty verifying the identity of an individual outside of our footprint when using the online account application. However, it's possible that we may be able to open the account for you by phone. Just give us a call at 888-751-9000. We have representatives available 24/7 that would be happy to discuss all of our accounts with you to find the right fit for you and then take your application for you.
If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to check out all of our accounts. We even have a great account selector tool that takes into consideration how you intend to use the account to find the perfect one for you. You can find that by clicking here: https://go.td.com/2sx4N2E
If you'll be visiting us here on the east coast anytime soon, we'd love it if you'd stop in and see us. We'd be glad to assist you in person. To find a TD Bank Store that may be near your travels, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
We hope you're having a great day, Dan!

I am living abroad and I am thinking in your bank to open up an account (not I am not an american citizen or an U.S. resident) the reason to do this is due I want to start to operate with stock in the New York Exchange by using TD Ameritrade. Is it possible? I mean, I do not have SSN because of my condition as non-resident person in the US, in case it is possible, Which is the procedure if I am abroad?
Thanks a lot

Thanks for joining in on the conversation today, Ernest.
Based on the information you have provided, it sounds as though you may be interested in opening an account with TD Ameritrade. If this is the case, we'd like to take a moment to explain that while TD Bank and TD Ameritrade may share the same TD shield, we are different entities. Because of this, for further assistance with your concerns, we'd like to recommend that you connect with TD Ameritrade directly.
If you'd like, you may check out the link here: http://bit.ly/1o5CpfJ, which will take you directly to TD Ameritrade's webpage, or you may also connect with a Specialist over the phone. For your convenience, TD Ameritrade Specialist are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached by simply dialing 800-400-3603.
We apologize again for any confusion, Ernest, but we hope this helps.
Take care, and thanks again for joining us today!
