I previously had accounts that were charged off with td bank and I was able to open another account. I wanted to know if I set up direct deposit would td bank withhold money from my account to cover the debt without my knowledge or permission?

Hi Denise and thanks for choosing to ask your question here on TD Helps.
Usually, if you had an account which was charged off with TD Bank, you will have to pay the amount owed prior to opening a new account with us. If we determine that the amount which was overdrawn is not collectible, we can close it and place the account in collection status.
Also, please note that TD Bank reserves the right to offset, meaning that any available funds in your other remaining accounts can be applied to your debt by TD Bank. You can read additional information about this process here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ on pages 20-21.
We encourage you to contact our Recovery Department directly at 800-354-9769 for assistance or more information about your accounts in particular. They can be reached Monday through Friday, 8 am through 9 pm and Saturday, 8 am through 5 pm for your convenience.
If you have any other questions, we're available by phone 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or any TD Bank Store found here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope that your day is very nice!
