Good morning, Peter! Thanks for visiting us today.
We're so glad to hear that your girlfriend is interested in opening an account with us!
For our friends in Canada, we do require some specific forms of ID in order to open an account here in the United States. If she has a Nexus card, this would be all she would need, but if not, no worries. We can take other forms of ID, such as a Non-U.S. passport or Canadian Enhanced Driver's License along with one of the following:
• Permanent Resident Card
• Military ID Card
• Old Age Security Card
• Birth Certificate
• Citizenship / Naturalization Card or Certificate
• US Issued Student ID
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Cross Border Banking line at 877-700-2913. We have representatives available 24/7 that can help answer any question you may have about opening an account here in the U.S. If you'll be visiting us anytime soon, we also invite you to stop into one of our Stores. You'll find all of our locations by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc. If she intends to open her account in person, we recommend that she contact the Store she plans to visit in advance to confirm that the forms of ID she has will be sufficient for account opening.
In case your inquiry is actually in regard to opening an account in Canada, please know that you've reached us here at TD Bank in the U.S., but we'd like to help you get in touch with someone at TD Canada Trust.
You can start by posing your question to our friends at TD Helps in Canada, by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1QBOF4U. If you'd like to speak with a representative at TD Canada Trust directly, you can call their 24/7 Customer Service line at 866-222-3456. We also want to provide you with a link to all of TD Canada Trust's contact info. You can find that by clicking here: https://go.td.com/2tp27BR.
We're certain they'll be able to provide any info your girlfriend will need to open her new account.
We look forward to meeting you both soon! Have a great day, Peter!

Dear Td Customer Service!
I'm a hungarian citizen located in Hungary. I'll form a Delaware LLC and I've decided to open a bank account with You, but I can't find any information about how to open bank account if I'm unable to visit USA now personally. May I ask You what is the process to open a bank account in this case?

Thanks for joining in on the conversation today, Akos.
It's great to hear that you're interested in joining the TD Family!
Before we begin, we'd first like to take a moment to explain that while you are able to view the different types of Business accounts that we offer online, we ask that visit a TD Store in person to open your account. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you haven't already done so, we invite you to check out the link here: https://go.td.com/2lg0QHF to view the different Business Checking accounts that we offer. We also offer some Savings accounts, and you're welcome to click here: https://go.td.com/2lLYIL4 for more information. If you're having trouble deciding, we also offer a Business Selector Tool, which you can find here: https://go.td.com/2qddtcK. This will help you by making a personalized recommendation based on your needs.
When you're ready to visit a TD Store, you're welcome to use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to find your nearest location.
Before your visit, there are a couple important things to remember. If your business account is going to have multiple signers, be sure to bring them with you for the account opening process. Those who are going to be signers on the account will need to bring a valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.) as well as have their Social Security number handy. As you stated that you are a non-resident alien, it's important to note that you will also need two valid forms of ID, and a W-8 Ben must be completed during the account opening process. One form of ID must be a Non-US passport, and the second form of ID you may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo - Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
Also, be sure to bring the Tax Identification Number for your business.
If you are looking to open an LLC, please also be sure to have the documents used to form and register your business, as well as the fictitious name registration or the Operating Agreement While only one of these documents is required, we'd like to recommend bringing both with you during your visit.
If you have any questions at all, you're more than welcome to either contact the TD Store location you plan on visiting, or you may also call and speak with a Small Business Banking Specialist, 24/7, at 1-800-493-7562, option 2.
We hope this information was helpful, Akos. Enjoy the rest of your day!
