Thanks for reaching out to us, Betsy. We understand your concern and will be happy to discuss this with you.
First, we would like to let you know that in order to close an account, the balance must be zero. We apologize that we're unable to close or place a hold on an account which is overdrawn.
To better assist you, we recommend that you give one of our dedicated Banking Specialists at call, 24/7 at 888-751-9000. We'll be able to review your account with you and provide any options, as well as let you know how you might prevent the balance from increasing further. Or, feel free to visit us at any TD Bank Store here as well: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this helps a bit, Betsy and please let us know about any other questions.
