Thank you for reaching out and please accept our heartfelt condolences in during this difficult time, Aaron.
In the unfortunate event of a Customer’s passing, it's important for TD Bank to assist the family and Executor/Administrator with our Customer’s account(s). An Executor or Administrator of a decedent’s estate may access the account and should be an individual.
In order to access the account or close the account of the deceased Customer, the Executor or Administrator must provide documentation to a TD Bank Store. Required documentation includes the Executor/Administrator's photo identification, as well as a copy of the Death Certificate. In addition, other documentation will be required depending on the State, such as a 'Short Certificate,' 'Certificate of Letters Testamentary' or 'Letters of Administration,' for example. The Death Certificate will provide the date of death if the date-of-death balance for the account is needed.
Please keep in mind – these documents can vary by State. Therefore, we recommend that you give us a call directly at 888-751-9000 to speak with a Banking Specialist to confirm which documentation may be necessary. Or, if you will be on the East Coast, you can visit a TD Bank Store. Since you mentioned that you're located in Nebraska, if you are named the Executor/Administrator and are unable to visit a Store, we recommend contacting your father's Home Store to determine any other available options. For Store locations and contact information, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this is helpful to you, Aaron. All the best to you during this time and take care.
