Hi - I made a payment to my credit card company. They applied the payment on a Friday, however the funds were not taken from my checking account until Monday. Is that because Saturday and Sunday are not considered 'business days?" The payment wasn't late - I'm just curious about the processing time. Thank you.

Welcome to the TD Helps Community, Monica.
That is correct, a business day is every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal Holidays.
The processing of your transactions and deposits are ready for posting only on business days. Please take a look at http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (pages 38-41), for details on availability of deposits, as well as how we process transactions on business days.
Please keep in mind that although TD Bank may be open on some holidays and can accept your transactions, transaction processing through the Federal Reserve Bank does not occur on federal holidays.
Thanks for reaching out, Monica and please take care!
