Great question, Esther. We'd be happy to bring some clarity to the situation.
There are two types of transactions you're able to make with your debit card. The first type is referred to a point of sale (POS) or debit. These items require the use of your PIN when making a purchase and typically apply to your statement within the same business day.
The second type of transaction is credit purchases. These items are processed using your debit card and are sent through Visa. These items do not require the use of your PIN. Because these items are sent using Visa, they may take up to 3-5 business days to apply to your account.
In addition to taking 3-5 business days to apply to your statement, any credit issued for your debit card may take up to 3-5 business days to receive depending on the merchant.
