I'm interested in opening an a personal checking acct at TD Bank. One question I have is regarding transfer fees. I see on the Convenience Checking Account Guide that to transfer money out of a TD bank to an external account (like Vanguard or Fidelity) is $3 for three day delivery. Is that only when the transaction is initiated from my TD account, or if I do the transfer from the Vanguard website will I still be charged $3?

We are happy to see you here at TD Helps, Jay and thank you for your interest in banking with us! We would be glad to answer your question.
Our External Transfer service is used if you're sending money from your personal account with TD Bank to your account at another Financial Institution within the United States. You can also initiate a request for funds from your account at another Financial Institution within the United States to your TD account. When using this service to send funds, fees may apply; however, if funds are deposited into your TD Bank account from another institution, you will not be charged a fee in that instance at this time. Please note that fees are subject to change. For more information on our Fee Schedule, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
Additionally, if the transfer you make is initiated at another financial institution, TD Bank will not assess a fee for the transaction. This applies to both withdrawals from and deposits to your TD Bank account as long as the transactions were not initiated using our transfer services. You are welcome to review our External Transfers Terms and Conditions here: http://bit.ly/1pADlWD.
Please also note that when initiating an External Transfer to an account you have with another Institution or vice versa, you will have two delivery options, three-day or next-day delivery. For the three-day option, the fee is $3.00 at this time, whereas next-day delivery has a fee of $7.00. Please note that these fees are subject to change. To qualify for the next-day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful 3-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days.
We hope the information provided helps, Jay. Please let us know if you have any other questions and take care.
