I made a purchase yesterday using my TD visa debit card. I had to return the item for a refund because it was the incorrect item later in the day, and the refund was processed to that debit card. Today, an ATM machine ate my card and I was issued a new TD visa with a new card number. Do I have to contact the retailer to change the card to which the refund is sent, or will TD automatically re-route it to my account once it receives the refund credit on my old card number?

We're very happy that you decided to come to TD helps with your question.
It sounds like you've refunded purchases on a debit card which was later refunded. We'd like to let you know that your refund should be returned to the account in which your debit card was linked to.
Credits for merchant returns typically takes 3-5 business days to be credited back onto your TD Bank Debit Card. In your case, it may take longer because your debit card is closed. If this time has passed and you have yet to see your credit or wish to speak with us, you may connect with one of our Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000. You may also reach out to the merchant directly for more information on their return policy.
As always, you may stop by your local TD Bank Store for assistance. To find the nearest TD Store near you, please visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope that you find this helpful and have a nice day!
