I am unable to use my cards although the have been activated and I thought registered.

Since you are referring to a TD Visa Gift Card, you can use it to make purchases once it is registered. To register your TD Visa Gift Card, we invite you to visit: http://bit.ly/1dmtzim. Please note; to register your gift card for the first time, the initial password is the three digit security code on the signature panel of the back of your card.
