I am a TD customer in NJ but currently based in the UK.
I will need to make a sizeable wire transfer from my TD account to the UK but will not be travelling to the USA for a while.
Can I initiate the transaction through the Toronto Dominion Bank branch in London and get them to verify identity etc and pass the instruction to TD Bank to execute?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for writing to us on TD Helps, Linda. We'd be glad to provide some options for your request.
In order to send an international wire, you will need to gather the following information: the full name, address (including City), State/Province, Country and account number of the person/business you are sending money to (for Euro Zone countries – IBAN – International Banking Account Number). Also, the full name and address, including City, State/Province and Country of the financial institution receiving the funds, plus of course the amount and currency of the transfer.
We invite you to visit http://bit.ly/1oowsYN for more details on sending international wires. When you are ready to send your international wire transfer, you will also need to provide the foreign bank our SWIFT address, which is NRTHUS33XXX, as well as obtain their SWIFT address, which you can obtain by contacting the institution in the U.K directly.
As you've mentioned that you're currently in the U.K., to send an outgoing international wire transfer, you will need to visit a TD Bank Store during lobby hours. For a listing of TD Bank Stores and hours, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores. Keep in mind that wire transfer fees may apply. For our fee schedule, please follow this link: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. We would also recommend checking with the financial institution in the U.K to ensure if there will be additional information required as well as to obtain information regarding any additional fees for their services. And please note that we do not process or disburse funds from wire transfers received designated Pay Upon Proper Identification (PUPID) and return them to the sender.
If you're not planning to visit US at any near future, please know that you do have the option to issue a check from your TD Checking account (if this is the account type you have) and deposit into your bank account in the U.K.
If you need additional assistance, please feel free to contact us via telephone. If you are to call us from the U.K, please dial direct 1-856-751-9000 or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518 if you are able to gain access to a land line phone.
Thanks again for joining us on TD Helps, and we hope you have a nice weekend!

However, you do not comment on the option of getting your sister TD organisation in London validating the instruction ( and confirming my identity etc) and forwarding it to you for execution.
Sending a check internationally for collection takes forever. Is there not a way to make the instruction from outside the US through another part of the TD Group please??

Welcome back, Linda.
Please know at this time, we are not affiliated with any institutions in Europe and our TD Bank footprint is on the east coast of the U.S. from Maine to Florida.
The TD Store you mentioned in your question is a TD Canada Trust Store located in London, Ontario. If your account is with TD Bank, TD Canada Trust would not be able to initiate a transfer on your behalf at this time as we are separate institutions.
We apologize for any inconvenience, Linda and have a good evening.
