Hi Donald! Thanks for visiting us at TD Helps today.
We're so glad you're interested in opening an account with us!
If you open a new account with us, you will need to update Social Security with your new account info. TD Bank would be considered a third party, so they would not necessarily accept that change from us. But we'd happy to help direct you to making that change. You can visit the Social Security Administration's website at http://bit.ly/2xR1J0B for info on updating your direct deposit account. You can also call them directly at the number listed on that page of 800-772-1213. As an additional piece of advice, we want to make you aware that when updating a direct deposit, it can take one to two payment cycles for the change to take effect. For that reason, we recommend confirming that your Social Security deposit has been successfully credited to your account with us prior to finalizing closeout of your account at Northfield Bank. If a direct deposit is sent to a closed account, the payment can be returned to the sender and delay the receipt of your funds.
If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to check out the accounts we're currently offering. We even have a great account selector tool that takes into consideration how you intend to use the account to help find the best fit for your needs. You can find that by clicking here: https://go.td.com/2sx4N2E. You may even be able to open the account right online!
We'd also be happy to discuss our accounts with you by phone or in person. Please don't hesitate to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop in to see us at any of our Stores. To find one near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
We hope this info helps, Donald. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Thanks for choosing TD Bank! Have a great day!
