I scheduled a payment for my Macy's credit card online using my routing and account number on the Macy's website. My payment was returned even though I had money in the account. It never hit my account, it wasn't reflected that an attempt was made. After contacting Macy's they said that the system returned the payment because my account or bank was sold, I was like what does that even mean so I called TD bank they said everything is fine, my account wasn't sold it might be Macy's payment system, I was like ok. So today I got a letter from Macy's explaining about my returned payment, where it says that they "got notification from your financial institution that they are unable to accept electronic payments debit from your account. As a result, the payment was never applied to the account."
I'm wondering is this try or not? I have my capital one set up the same way, will TD bank decline the electronic payment? What's going on?
