How does TD Bank confirm a written check that's being cashed?

Please know that when a TD Bank check is cashed at any financial institution, it is submitted to TD Bank for review and then debited from your account. During this review period, items deposited are reviewed for accuracy based on your account information.
If you've lost a check or are concerned about your account information, we recommend reaching out to us directly so we may discuss these concerns in depth. To do so, you are able to contact us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000 or by visiting a TD Store during lobby hours. To take a look at Store locations and their hours please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
In addition, if you are enrolled for Online Banking, you may send a secure message using www.tdbank.com. To send a secure message you must first logon to your TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq. On the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center."

In addition to the reply above, please know that typically, no action is needed from the depositor as this process is handled by the financial institutions directly. If your financial institution needs to reach out to us, please have them call (888)751-9000.
