I only faintly remember being told that I am only able to spend $100 for the first month that I have my account. My account does not tell me this, so is it true? Will payments be declined if I go over that amount? Exactly how long is the wait to spend more money, 30 days? Thank you very much!!!

Hi, Christina! Welcome to TD Helps and thank you for opening a new Student account with us. We understand the importance of knowing your account balance and when deposits will be available.
When making check deposits with a Teller, the first $100.00 is made available immediately. If you are a new account holder and your account has not been open for 30 consecutive days, Check Deposits can be held up to 7 business days for verification purposes. After this grace period, not only will the first $100.00 be made available at the time of deposit, but the rest of the funds will credit to your account on the following business day.
Check deposits made at a TD Bank ATM before 8:00 PM on a business day are considered deposits made on that business day. A business day is every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. If you make a deposit at an ATM before 8 PM on a business day that we are open, we will consider that to be the day of your deposit. However, if you make a deposit at an ATM after 8 PM, or on a day we are not open, we will consider that the deposit was made on the next business day. Accounts that are less than 90 days old will generally see availability of funds the next business day.
Beginning August 17, 2014, cash deposits (made at the Bank’s teller station or the Bank’s ATM) are available on the same day they are deposited. For more information, please check out this link, this information is listed on page 2: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. Here is our Personal Deposit Account Agreement http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ for you to view for more information. On pages 35-37 you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with information about when you'll have access to deposits.
We also offer TD Debit Card Advance, which is an optional overdraft service that may help you avoid debit card declines. We may authorize ATM transactions or one-time debit card purchases even if you don't have enough money available in your account. We ask that you take a look here: http://bit.ly/1voNBCy for more details and also here: http://bit.ly/Yv0ulC for more specific information.
If you have any additional questions feel free to contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or you can stop at any local TD Location please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this helps. Please don’t hesitate to write back if you have any further questions. Have a great day!
