Hello William, thank you for taking the time to visit us with your question.
Unless you are a signer on your wife's account or she is a signer on your account, you would not be able to make a direct transfer between the two accounts; however, there are still several options available if you would like to transfer funds from your account to your wife's, and vice-versa.
If you are looking to transfer funds to your wife online, you may initiate a Person-to-Person transfer via your TD Online Banking profile. To use this feature, you must first be enrolled for Online Banking. If you have not yet done so, you can do so for free here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Please have your account number, debit card number and Social Security number available. If you have any trouble signing up, please contact our Banking Specialists, 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or feel free to visit us at any TD Store during lobby hours. For Store hours please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Once you've successfully enrolled and after you log into your online profile, please select the “Person-to-Person” tab to enroll for this specific feature (The “Person-to-Person” tab should show at the top of your page after logging into your TD Bank Online Banking profile. As long as you have a U.S. address, phone number, and email address on file, you should be able to send funds using this option to someone else's bank account within the U.S.). You will then be asked to accept the User Agreement, review the fee schedule, and confirm your email and phone number. A text and email code will be sent to the mobile number and the email address we have on file for you. Next, we will request you to submit both codes for verification to complete the enrollment process. Once the enrollment is complete, you’ll be ready to send the payment which the other person will receive in one business day or three business days as per your selection. Please note, to qualify for the next day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful 3-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days. This service may be used to send money to another person as long as they bank with any financial institution within the United States, including TD.
Please be aware that this feature does come with limits on the amount you can send or receive. For the information on the payment methods and amounts, please check out this link: http://bit.ly/1pADlWD (Pg 3. Section 1.16). Also, sending money via our Person-to-Person Payment service may incur a fee, and for more details we encourage you to checkout or current Personal Fee Schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
If you can make it into a TD Store, please know that you always have the option to withdraw funds from your account and then deposit cash into your wife's account with a Teller. We recommend having both account numbers available when you do this and any transfer or deposit processed this way will be available immediately in the depositing account. Please visit us during lobby hours at any TD Store to complete this – you can find the nearest location through our Store locator above.
Let us know if you have any other questions, William and have a great night!
