I have applied via phone to open US checking account and then received paperwork for its activation. However, in application package i found form W-8BEN for non US persons. I made some research and found that applicable form in my situation would be W9.
Could you please advise me how to manage this issue according to the law?
Do I need to cancel this account or simply fill out form W9 instead of W-8BEN?
PS. The paperwork was sent to my canadian adress and during application process via phone i provided my canadian adress as residencial too.
Thank you in advance
