Hey Pat, thank you for stopping by TD Helps with your question today.
It sounds like you'll be receiving payments in the form of Canadian checks; if this is the case, you'll be glad to know that you may deposit your Canadian check at any TD Bank Store during lobby hours. You can visit this link to find the TD Store location nearest you: http://bit.ly/TDStores. Please know that foreign checks must be deposited with a Teller and not through the ATM or our Mobile Deposit feature.
The international check must have an equivalent value of at least $100.00 USD. For checks in Canadian currency, it will take approximately 3 to 5 business days from the day the check is deposited to be received and processed by our Foreign Check Collection department. At this time, the funds will be converted into U.S. Dollars and the exchange differential will be debited from your account. For other currencies, please allow extra time for processing.
To avoid any processing complications, foreign checks deposited into your account should not be split between two different accounts; the entire check amount should be deposited into one account. It's also recommended to use a separate deposit slip for foreign check deposits, particularly for checks issued in Canadian Dollars, and not commingle them with other non-Canadian checks. This will help you know this deposit amount belongs with the exchange done against the account.
If you are unable to make it to a TD Bank Store due to your busy schedule, you could consider our Bank-by-Mail service – this option is simple and easy! All you need to do is mail your deposit into the address below:
TD Bank, N.A.
P.O Box Number 1190
Lewiston, Maine 04243
Our P.O. Box is checked daily and transactions are posted the same day. If you choose to use Fed-EX or UPS to mail in a deposit to us, you can ship it to this address:
TD Bank by Mail
140 Mill Street
Lewiston, ME 04243
We recommend visiting http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ to learn more about our funds availability policy starting on page 38-41. Also keep in mind that TD Bank is not responsible for items lost in mail. Here are some additional tips to consider the prior to mailing your deposit:
- Cash should not be sent through the mail
- Payee of the check and name on the deposit ticket should be the same
- Checks should be endorsed (and restricted "for deposit only")
- Multiple checks should be listed and a total of the deposit listed
- Enclose the deposit ticket, not the carbon copy
- If using a blank deposit ticket, please write the account number clearly
- Do not staple transactions
If you have any further questions, please let us know or call us at 888-751-9000 to speak with a Banking Specialist 24/7.
We hope this helps out Pat. Have a wonderful day!
