What are the requirements to authorize somebody else collect a check that has my name written on it? (I am no longer in the US so i can't collect it myself)

Yes, someone else can bring your check into the nearest TD Bank Store to deposit on your behalf. To find the closest Store and their hours, please use our handy Store locator here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc. We do recommend writing on the back of the check "For Deposit Only" before it's brought in. Also, we want to make sure that the deposit is applied to the correct account, so please provide whoever is bringing the check in with your full name and the last 4 digits of the account number for verification.
We'd like to take a moment to remind you of our standard deposit availability Stef. Generally, the first $100 of all non-cash deposits made with a teller is available the same day. After that, the remainder of the funds are usually available on the following business day after the date of your deposit. Please note that there are exceptions that may cause delays in funds availability, we invite you to look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement here: https://go.td.com/1kb17UQ. On pages 41-44 you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with information about when you'll have access to deposits.
