Hi, I gave a friend of my of mine a check a few weeks ago and she just called to tell me that she lost it. Do I need to cancel it and if so, how do I do something like that?

Since you mentioned that a check has been misplaced, we recommend that you place a stop payment on this item at your earliest convenience. To assist you, please give us a call 24/7 to speak with a Customer Service Representative at 888-751-9000. Our Representatives would be happy to assist you in placing the stop payment upon account verification.
You may also place a stop payment via Online Banking. To request a stop online, you will need to first log on to your Online Banking. If you have personal TD accounts and are signed up for our Retail online banking, please click here http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. If you are a TD Bank BusinessDirect user, please direct your browser to http://bit.ly/1rvBmq8. On the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center."
Depending on your Checking account type, there may be a fee applied for a stop payment. Please visit: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to view our current Fee Schedule.
In addition, you may also stop by your nearest TD Bank Store location to request the stop payment request in person. To find out TD store locations near you, please visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores.
