We are not a 501 C non profit, but people would like to donate to support our printing costs, and would like to write checks to our group. We did already get an IRS number, and sought to open an account with two signers who had the requisite IDs, as you mention re business accounts, but then we found this is not enough. We understand that we need bylaws for our group--and can you tell me what else? Thank you! Judy Young, Gettysburg

If your business account is going to have multiple signers, be sure to bring them with you for the account opening process. Those who are going to be signers on the account need to bring the following documents: a valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.) and Social Security number. For a non-resident alien opening a business account, you will need two valid forms of ID and a W-8Ben must be completed during the account opening process. Also, be sure to bring the Tax Identification Number for your business.
We would also need to verify the status of the Non-Profit Organization. Please bring in the following documents to your local TD Store: a 5013-C form that you would've received from the IRS when granted the Not-for-Profit status, and the separate Tax Identification Number given to Non-Profit Organizations when initially applying for that status. Please note, a Social Security Number cannot be accepted instead of a Tax Identification Number.
Also, if your Non-Profit Organization is also incorporated, please include the additional following information: State Website Report, Filed or Certified Business Formation Documents, or Certificate of Good Standing/Existence. Additionally, you will need to bring the Corporate Resolution documents. If your Non-Profit Organization is not incorporated, no additional documentation is required for this account type.
We hope this helps, Judy and thanks again for considering TD.
