Thanks for reaching out on TD Helps, Al! We'd be happy to review stop payments with you.
First, to learn more about any fees that may apply for a Stop Payment, please visit: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to view our current Fee Schedule. We also invite you to view the chart on that page, which indicates the types of accounts which waive this fee.
There are a few ways to request a stop payment on a check that has not been presented against your account yet.
You may give a call 24/7 to speak with a Customer Service Representative at 888-751-9000. Our Representatives would be happy to assist you in placing a stop payment. Keep in mind you will need the check number, exact amount of the check as well as the payee information to do so. You may also go to a TD Store location for assistance. For lobby hours and locations of TD Stores near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Another option you have to place a stop payment is via Online Banking. If you're not currently enrolled for Online Banking, you may do so by clicking: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your account number, ATM/Debit card number and Social Security number to enroll online. Once you're logged in, please click on the "Customer Service" tab and then "Stop Payment," and follow the prompts.
And just in case you bank with our friends to the North at TD Canada Trust and you're inquiring about placing a stop payment for your account there, take a look here: http://bit.ly/1CHwejh at a similar question that may help. You can also reach them directly at http://bit.ly/1woOVay, or post a question here: http://bit.ly/1kD3iFr on their TD Helps page.
Thanks again for writing in and hope this answers your question, Al! Have a great week ahead.
