We’d love to welcome you to TD, Terence! Thanks for considering us and it's our pleasure to assist.
First, you'll be glad to know that none of our personal accounts require any minimum balances to start! Kindly note that depending on the type of account you select, it may have a daily minimum balance required in order to waive a monthly maintenance fee. Also please know that although no minimum is required to open an account, some banking services do require an activation deposit to be made prior to becoming available for you. We'd like to take a moment to let you know more about the account options available. Once you have found an account you like, you can click on the "View Account Guide" link which is listed below each account title. Once this page opens, it will review in detail any minimum balance the account requires and any applicable fees.
We encourage you to review our Checking Accounts here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF. You might also find it convenient to use our Checking Account Selector found at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU, which can provide the best account for you after you answer a couple quick questions. Also, our Savings products are listed here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector at http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd. You'll be able to review any minimum requirements and other details about each account we offer at those links.
You may find this link helpful as well: http://bit.ly/1D7QIEH, where you can get to know your new checking account. Even if you haven't opened an account with us yet, it summarizes some of the features available that you'll benefit from if you do.
We also notice that you're reaching out to us from Canada, Terence. If you are interested in opening an account with us here in the U.S., you have several options to open one depending on your Citizenship & Residence.
If you have a U.S. Social Security number and currently reside in the U.S., the option to open an account is available online. You may use the Open Account button at the links provided earlier to begin an account application. To do so, you'll need your Social Security number and a valid personal identification such as a Driver's license, State ID, or Passport. For accounts opened online, you can make your first deposit using a debit or credit card (Visa or MasterCard), or fund the account via an account you may have at another bank using the routing and account numbers. You're also welcome to stop in at a Store to make your initial deposit.
If you'd prefer to open your account by phone, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Banking Specialists. They will be more than happy to help you establish your account, and provide convenient deposit options. You're also welcome to open your new account in person. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores to search for the convenient TD Bank Store locations near you.
If you're a Canadian Citizen, then you can open an account with us online through this link: http://bit.ly/1ishIab. Or, you could also contact a Cross Border Banking Specialist by phone 24/7 at 877-700-2913 to open an account right over the phone! For a list of some of the benefits of Cross Border Banking, please see here: http://bit.ly/1ienPN4. And, a brand new feature we have available is the option to open a TD Bank U.S. account at any TD Canada Trust location in Canada! To find the TD Canada Trust location near you, please use: http://bit.ly/18OJlY5.
We hope this helps, Terence! Best of luck to you and let us know about any questions. Have a great one.
