never heard of Zelle---what is it and is it required service

We appreciate your question, Edward, and we'd be happy to review.
Zelle is a third party that many financial institutions, including TD, use in order to send transfers online. Please know that it is only required to sign up in order to use Send Money or send external transfers using Online and Mobile Banking.
If you're interested in enrolling, you would first need to ensure that you're enrolled in Online Banking. To sign up, please visit here https://go.td.com/2FHYCjh. For the enrollment process you will need your account number, ATM/debit card, Social Security Number and email address.
You can also sign up using the Mobile Banking App. Once you download the App, you're able to enroll by selecting Sign up. You will need the same information mentioned above. To learn more about the Mobile Banking App, please visit here: https://go.td.com/2RunflD.
Once signed in, you're able to sign up for Send Money with Zelle and make external transfers. Send Money is a free service for Person-to-Person transfers. It's easy to sign up for Send Money with the steps below:
Sign in to Online Banking here: https://go.td.com/2H8iXLO
Select the Transfers tab followed by the Send Money with Zelle tab
Select enroll and review your email address. You're able to edit this information by selecting the pencil to the right of your email address.
If correct or after updating, select Continue to review and accept the Terms of Service by selecting the Accept link.
Once complete, you will be able to begin initiating transfers.
To initiate a transfer:
Log in or ensure you're signed in to Online Banking
From within the "Transfers" tab, select 'Send Money'
Ensure your email address shown is correct.
Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
If you sign up with your mobile number, select text or call to receive a verification code. If you sign up using your email we'll send you a verification code by email.
Enter the code to verify your email address or mobile number.
We'll show your accounts that are eligible for Instant Transfer. Just choose the one you wish to use.
It is very important to be sure that you have mobile notifications enabled for TD Bank.
If you sign up with your email and don't receive a verification code, please check your e-mail Spam folder. Please note: it will be necessary to re-enroll if you used our previous 3rd party Person-to-Person provider.
You're able to send funds to external accounts or accounts at other financial institutions that are maintained by you, please follow the steps below:
Login in to Online Banking and click the "Transfer" tab
Click on 'With Accounts Outside TD' sub-tab
Click 'Make a Transfer' Sub Tab
Enter the Amount to transfer
Select the account to draw the money 'From' using the dropdown
Select the account to send the money 'To' using the dropdown
Choose a date to send the transfer, located beneath 'Send On'
Click on the desired date to send the transfer. This date is shaded in green. The expected delivery date turns the font color to black
Select the Delivery Speed
Open the required 'Funds Transfer Disclaimer'
Click "Continue" on the right side to schedule the transfer
New users and new accounts will only have 3-day delivery speed option until the 90 day eligibility requirements have been met for the 1-day delivery option.
Please know that in order to use either of the transfer services mentioned above you must have an Online Banking profile with a US address, a unique US phone number, an active unique email address, and a Social Security Number.
