what will happen if I use debit card number instead of savings account number for the echeck

Good morning, Steven. Thanks for reaching out to us.
When setting up an electronic check payment, you will need to provide your account and routing number. For echecks, you will generally have to provide a checking account number, rather than a savings account number. You can use a savings account for ACH payments. ACH payments are also electronic payments, but they do not come out as a draft check or echeck, rather just an electronic deduction from your account.
In either case, your debit card number would not work. If you enter your debit card number rather than your account number for an echeck or ACH payment, the payment will not go through. The system actually may not accept the debit card number when initially setting up the payment, as debit card numbers are generally significantly longer than account numbers.
If you need to locate your account number for this payment, we'd be happy to help.
The first and probably quickest way to access your account number is through your online or mobile banking.
If you're enrolled in online banking, click here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq to login. Once logged in, you'll see a list of the accounts you have with us. The account number for each account will be shown.
You can also access your account number from the mobile app. To do this, log into the app and select the account for which you need the account number. Now click the 'Details' tab. It will show only the last 4 digits. Click the blue hyperlink next to it that say 'Show'. You'll then be able to view your full account number.
We can also provide you your account number in person at any of our Stores. Just stop in to see us with photo ID and we'd be happy to help. To find a TD Bank Store near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop in to see us at any of our Stores.
We hope you have a wonderful day, Steven!
