Great question, Emily! We're glad to review how statements work.
Your statement period is a total of 30 calendar days based on when you opened your account. As you've noticed, this date is not necessarily the first of the month!
You can update your statement period at any time by connecting with a Banking Specialist. We're available 24/7 at 888-751-9000, during lobby hours at your local TD Store or via secure message while signed in online.
Take a look at TD Stores near you and their hours here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
When signed in to Online Banking here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq, send a secure message by selecting the Message Center on the left hand side of the page. If you're using Mobile Banking, select the option to 'Contact Us' followed by 'Send a secure message' after signing in.
Keep in mind that any changes to your statement period may not be reflected until the following month.
Talk to you soon, Emily! Have a lovely morning!
