It would have been a check prepaying for a burial service. The cemetery has nothing to indicate payment and said no money was paid. We are planning to bury my mom. This was supposedly taken care of 10 years ago. The only proof would be a returned check 10 years ago. I heard there was a way to trace it- like microfilm?? Thanks

Hi Jane, thanks for connecting with us at TD Helps. We're very sorry to hear about your loss and hope you are doing well given the circumstances.
To answer your first question, Family Bankcorp was acquired by Peoples Bank in 1996. Peoples Bank then merged with Banknorth in early 2000. In turn, Banknorth was acquired by TD Bank Financial Group in 2007, which brings us to where we are today as TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank.
In regards to past statements or check copies, please know that banks are required to retain account records for up to seven years, and we'd be happy to provide you with any statements or check copies during this time period.
As you've mentioned that your account may now be closed, we can still provide you with check copies given we still have them on record. To best assist you, we recommend stopping by a local TD Bank Store during lobby hours with your valid photo ID. Any one of our dedicated Customer Service Specialists would be able to assist. To find a TD Bank near you, please check out http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Please also note, depending on the copies you are looking for, fees may apply. For more information, please refer to your Account Guide if available and our current Personal Fee Schedule located here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt (located under “copies”).
We hope this helps Jane. If you have any other questions at all, please reach out to us again. Take care!
