Thanks for joining us here at TD Helps, Micheline. We'd be happy to help provide details about using our TD Credit Cards internationally.
As you mentioned you'll be using a TD Bank Visa Credit Card – yes, foreign transaction fees may apply. At this time, a 3% international surcharge would be included with any purchases made outside of the United States. Please be aware however that these fees may be subject to change, and to view the general terms for a Personal Credit Card, please see here: http://bit.ly/1klVfbF (Page 12). Kindly also note that if you have a Credit Card with TD Bank, a Credit Card Agreement specific to your account is issued at that time of approval and may contain different terms.
If you may be referring to a Checking account with TD Bank and one of our TD Bank Visa Debit cards to go with it, you'll be glad to learn that TD Bank does not charge you any foreign transaction fees for purchases made with this card. When using this card for a purchase in foreign currency, our Customers pay the Visa exchange rate at the time of purchase. This rate is not set by TD Bank.
Please keep in mind that fees that can be incurred while using international ATMs. Each withdrawal, transfer, and balance inquiry made at an ATM not owned by TD is subject to a fee, which is charged by TD Bank the same business day that the transaction is made. Our current Fee Schedule can be found here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt, which details this for you. Please note that this fee may be assessed in addition to any fee assessed by the owner of the ATM or network. You may also refer to our Personal Deposit Account Agreement http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (pages 43-45) for more information about what type of fees to expect. Also, depending on the type of account you have with us, your non-TD ATM fees may be reimbursed if you maintain the required daily minimum balance. Please check out our Fee Schedule above for information about the type of accounts that allow reimbursement for non-TD ATM fees.
