Thanks for reaching out to us on TD Helps, Karen. This is a great question and we're to provide more information regarding the identity check.
When you open an account, we do pull information from your credit report so that we may ask specific questions to verify your identity. However, we do not do a hard check and your credit will not be affected by this inquiry.
With that being said, if you'd like to open an account, we encourage you to review our Checking Accounts here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF, or use our Checking Account Selector at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU. And just in case you're interested, our Savings products are listed here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector Tool at http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd.You may use the Open Account button at these links to begin your account application.
If you'd prefer to open your account by phone, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives. They will be more than happy to help you establish your account. You're also welcome to open your new account in person. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores to search for the convenient TD Bank Store locations near you.
Please note that if you're looking to open a loan and/or credit card with TD Bank, that would be considered a hard check.
Thank you so much for choosing TD Bank, Karen. Let us know if you have any further questions!
