Thanks for coming to TD Helps today, Delroy! We'll be happy to clear up any confusion.
The way a transaction is presented to your account will depend on whether the transaction was processed as a credit or a debit. If a pending transaction is going to be debited from your account, typically speaking, the amount will be surrounded by parentheses, whereas a credit will appear without the parentheses.
For example, if you used your Debit Card to purchase lunch in the amount of $10.00, the pending transaction would be debited from your account, and appear as ($10.00). In the event that you receive a credit, such as a transfer or a deposit from a friend, the item will appear without parentheses, or $100.00.
Once the transaction has posted to your account, you will be able to tell whether the transaction was a debit or a credit by clicking on that specific account, and then looking to see if the amount is under the 'Debit' or 'Credit' column.
