was an electronic payment, but it looks like a paper payment. Which is it and how muc time does it take for the payment to reach the payee. Thanks

Thanks for coming by TD Helps, Robert. We understand your concern and would be glad to help.
When using TD Bank Bill Pay, please note that Bill Payments can be issued electronically or as a draft check, and actual processing is determined by the Biller.
We always prefer to send the payment out electronically; however, if your Biller is not set up to receive electronic transmittals from financial institutions we process a paper check and provide the payment that way. Additionally, there are other times when the payments are sent in the form of a check. For example, if any of the Biller information does not match, it may be sent as a check. Also, depending on the Biller, some merchants set limits for electronic transactions. If the amount you're sending exceeds this predetermined limit, the payment can also be sent as a paper check.
When you are making a bill payment through TD Bank Online Banking, the date you select is the delivery date of your payment. This date is when your biller can expect to receive the payment through an electronic funds transfer. In some cases we are not able to complete an electronic funds transfer so we print a check and mail it to your biller, in this case the date you selected is the date the check should be delivered. Any date that is in grey and cannot be selected, is a date that we cannot deliver on. By default all weekends and holidays will not be available for selection of delivery.
To ensure your payments are received on time, we recommend scheduling your payments to allow enough time for processing before the due date. Please note actual processing is determined by the biller.
Bills paid electronically can be paid as soon as the next business day and will give you the option to choose the next business day on the calendar.
We'd recommend contacting one of our Tech Support directly 24/7 at 800-493-7562, option 3. They'd be glad to review your Billers in detail to determine more about their payment method. Or, feel free to stop by at any nearby TD Bank Store. A listing of our store locations can be found at: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We also notice that you're writing to us from Canada. If this is in regards to your TD Canada Trust account, feel free to reach out to them directly by using their "Contact Us" page found here: http://bit.ly/1woOVay.
We hope this helps Robert. Have a good one.
