Hi Johann, welcome to TD Helps! Let`s get started on your question.
We`d like to let you know that the exchange rate you would receive at an ATM is not set by the bank. Foreign exchange rates are published by the government and fluctuate daily and Customers will pay the VISA exchange rate at the time of an ATM withdrawal. We encourage you to check out our current fee schedule: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt, as it outlines any applicable fees that may come into play when you use your debit card out of the country.
If you have any future travel plans, we do recommend placing travel notes on your account(s) if you haven’t done so already. You may contact our dedicated Banking Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to have a travel notification placed on your account(s). Once your account is notated, TD Bank is now aware of your current and future locations which will greatly reduce any service interruptions. You may also send a Secure Message through Online Banking as well. If you are not enrolled in Online Banking, please click here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Once you are enrolled, please sign into your account ad click on the Customer Service tab and then select ``Send a Message.`` If you choose this option, please include the exact travel dates, destination, and if there will be any connecting flights, if applicable. If you are unable to call or send a message, you can always visit your local TD Bank Store and have a Customer Service Representative place the travel notes for you. Please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores for locations and lobby hours near you.
We also recommend carrying more than one method of payment while traveling, just in case you encounter any acceptance issues. For more travel tips frequently asked questions by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1ltwDDc.
If you need to contact us from abroad, you can reach us 24/7 via mobile telephone or calling us collect with an operator`s assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 215-569-0518.
We hope this helps, Johann. Have a great and safe trip!
