when paying for gas at a Shell station, the amount posted is always $1.00 and remains such for a few days until the full and correct amount is posted. Why is that? When using a TD Visa card all transactions show immediately on line with the full amount of the transaction; some show as pending. However when paying for gas at a Shell station, the amount posted is always $1.00 and remains such for a few days until the full and correct amount is posted. Why is that?

Thanks for joining us on TD Helps, Nick. We’ll be happy to clarify!
When using your debit card for gas purchases, an authorization is typically placed for $1.00, until the merchant collects the funds. The full amount will post to your account within 3-5 business days of the transaction being authorized. Please know that this is done by the merchant, and is practiced by other vendors as well.
We’re sorry if this caused any concern! Please feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions by reaching back out to us on TD Helps, or calling us directly at 888-751-9000.
