We are moving to Portland, OR and see that there are no TD Bank locations on the West Coast. We prefer not to have to close out the accounts, how can we still have the services without having physical locations? Is it possible to open an account in another bank in Oregon, use it if we need a physical location but transfer funds between banks? Say, salary will be deposited in the Oregon bank, then we transfer the funds to TD Bank. Are there fees associated with external transfers like that? Can they be waived to keep a customer? When is TD bank going to open locations on the west coast?

First, we'd like to thank you for your interest in maintaining your account even if you're not in the area right now. We're happy to tell you that we have plenty of options for you to complete your banking without the need to visit us at our Stores. We offer fully featured Online and Mobile Banking services and live telephone support available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year by dialing 888-751-9000. When you're outside the U.S., please feel free to reach us via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518.
In order to maintain your account, you will simply want to keep the account in an Active status. To do so, if your account is a checking account, at least one transaction initiated by you will be required every six months. If the account is a savings, at least one transaction initiated by you will be required every nine months. If you have an ATM or Visa Debit card with the account, you can make a purchase or withdrawal to add this activity to your account from your current location.
External Transfers are used if you're sending money between your personal account with TD Bank and your account at another Financial Institution. This option is available via Online Banking and you're welcome to send or receive money using this service. Kindly note that in order to be eligible to use this service, you must have a United States address, a unique United States phone number, a United States issued Social Security number and a valid unique email address. You must also be enrolled for Online Banking and be using a personal TD Bank Checking, Savings or Money Market account for the transfer.
When sending an External Transfer, you will have two delivery options, three-day or next-day delivery. To qualify for the next-day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful three-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days.
