I deposited $500 cash in person as soon as the bank opened up with a teller, and a few hours later when I log on to my account online my deposit shows up as "pending". Why is that if it's a cash deposit.

Welcome to TD Helps, Theodore. We're glad to go over funds availability with you.
We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that cash deposit (made at the Bank’s teller station or the Bank’s ATM) is available on the same day they are deposited. However, the transaction itself will not be posted to your account history until our system updates. We apologize if this poses any confusion to you.
Here is our Personal Deposit Account Agreement http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ for you to view for more information. On pages 38-40 you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with information about when you'll have access to deposits.
Also, if a cash deposit is made after 8:00 PM on a business day or over the weekend, while the funds will be available immediately, the deposit will remain pending and post to your account on the following business day.
We hope we have helped you today, Theodore and stop by again with any questions you have!
