I called customer service and put a payment stop in place on an e-check but the money was still taken from my account. Why was the money still taken if they had put the stop in place?

Hi Natalie. Thanks for reaching out to us. We'd be glad to explain.
If a stop payment is placed on an ACH payment (an electronic payment using your account and routing numbers), the transaction will still post the account. If the stop payment was accurately placed, the payment will be returned unpaid the following business day and the funds replaced in your account.
We'd be happy to take a look at your account and confirm whether or not the stop payment was successful, and if so, when you can expect the funds to be replaced in your account. As TD Helps is considered an unsecure forum, we do not have access to specific account information to help directly, but please give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop in to see us at a local TD Bank Store. To find one near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc. You can also reach out to us by secure message through your online and mobile banking. To send a secure message, log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We can generally respond within 24 hours or less.
We hope to hear from you soon so that we may resolve this, Natalie. Take care.
