I held a joint student account with my daughter. In an attempt to help her learn money management, she ended up abusing it and overdrafting the account. I paid all overdraft fees, waited for all remaining checks to clear and then after all activity was over, I cancelled the account.
When the time came to cut up her card she "couldn't find it". Now I am finding out from my exhusband that she still has it.
So my question is: if she tries swiping this card anywhere,or enters the number online like for instance through iTunes, will the charge be approved?

Thanks for submitting your question, Janice.
If your daughter's debit card is linked to a closed account, you may no longer use the debit card. Once an account is closed, the debit card will become inactive.
