Thank you for reaching us on TD Helps, Alyssa. We'd hate to see you go!
We understand that sometimes individual banking needs change. We'd like to take the opportunity to share our Savings Selector Tool that can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM. It may help choose a better Savings account to fit your needs now that your balance won't be as large. We also recommend taking a look at our Finance 101 page that can be found here: http://bit.ly/1dHULN9. The page has great tips for saving on a variety of budgets that may help you in the future.
If you still wish to close your account, you can visit a TD Store during lobby hours or, if your account is at a zero balance you may call us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000 or send a secure message via Online Banking. In order to send a secure message you must first be enrolled in Online Banking and to start the process, please visit here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that you will need your account number, ATM/Visa Debit Card number and email address. Once enrolled, you may send a secure message by selecting "Send a secure message" located on the left hand side of the page, beneath "Message Center." Since this message will be sent securely to us through your Online Banking, no email address is required. Please note that your account must be at a zero balance in order to close it via secure message and over the telephone.
If you are intending to close a Certificate of Deposit type of Savings account (CD), in order to do so we ask that you step inside any TD Bank Store nearby you for assistance. Kindly keep in mind that you'll want to visit during the 10-day grace period at account maturity so that we can make any changes to the CD that you prefer. If you decide you will keep the CD but would like to make a deposit or withdrawal from the account, this can also be completed at any Store during the grace period. For hours and locations near you, feel free to take a look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Help is just a call away, Alyssa. We hope the information provided helps and enjoy the rest of your day!
