I live overseas. How can I transfer money from my TD account into my local account in Kenya when I am in Nairobi?

Thanks for coming to TD Helps with your question, Ali!
When living overseas, it may seem difficult to move funds from your U.S. account to your foreign account, but it's not impossible! Wire transfers do need to be initiated in person, so that would not be an option in this case, but we'd be glad to provide you with some ways to move funds to your account in Kenya.
If you have a TD Bank Debit Card, you may be able to withdraw funds from your TD Bank account at an ATM there in Nairobi. Please note that when a non-TD Bank ATM is used, a fee can be charged. This fee is separate from any fee the other bank or ATM company may charge. However, with some of our accounts, non-TD Bank ATM fees are waived as a benefit of that account type. We may even waive the fees charged by the ATM company! Click here: https://go.td.com/2kFZ5mK to review the Personal Fee Schedule. On this page, you'll find info about non-TD Bank ATM fees and which accounts may waive those fees.
You may also be able to use your TD Bank Visa Debit Card to do a cash advance with a bank teller at a different financial institution. To do this, visit a bank there in Nairobi and request to do a Visa Cash Advance with the teller. Your card will be used to withdraw funds and that transaction should post to your account as a Visa purchase, rather than a withdrawal. While TD Bank does not charge a fee for doing this type of transaction, we recommend confirming with the bank that you use if they charge a fee to perform this service.
Once you've received cash from your ATM withdrawal or cash advance, you can then deposit those funds to your account in Kenya.
Another option that you have is to write yourself a check drawn on your U.S. TD Bank account and deposit that check at your local Kenyan bank. Because it would be an international check, your bank may send the check out for collection, delaying the availability of the funds. You will want to discuss the funds availability time frame with your bank there in Kenya.
We hope this info helps, Ali. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call.
